I'm a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it

Dear Reader,

"Thomas Jefferson once said, 'I'm a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it.' That sentiment rings true in many areas of life, including horse racing.

Getting Ashton ready for his race was a true team effort, but despite our hard work, he got hit at the gate and fell behind the pack. However, with sheer will power, he made an impressive comeback, taking the lead before ultimately being caught just before the wire and finishing fourth. You can witness the exciting final furlong of the race in the video below.

Although our recent experience was frustrating, we're not letting it get us down. We know that with continued hard work, we can increase our chances of success. And with that mindset, I wanted to share a behind-the-scenes look at our journey to the New Orleans Fairgrounds racetrack.

If you're a fan of horse racing, you won't want to miss this video. It's an excellent way to get a personal tour of what goes into getting a horse race-ready and the excitement of the race itself.

Update

I'm thrilled to report that my friend who was thrown from "Aunt Addie" is now on the road to recovery. Despite suffering some broken bones and a bruised liver, his resilience and determination have led to a remarkable recovery. He's already out of the hospital and in high spirits, having visited the barn and eagerly anticipating his return to riding.

This experience has been a challenging one, but my friend's resolve to recover has only made him stronger. We're proud to see him back on his feet and pursuing his passion for horses once again.

Question

Do you have any topics you want me to cover? If so please email me. My plan going forward is to explain the equipment we use and common issues that arise with our horses.

Here is an article I wrote about maiden horse races you may find interesting.

One highlight of the day was seeing the familiar face of our exercise jockey riding in the ostrich race. He is exceptional rider, despite...
